The current notarization fee authorized by the State of Texas is $6 per notarization, and an additional $1 for each additional signature.

These fees were approved 21 years ago in 1996.  Many things have changed since then, mainly the cost of living.  The scope of our work has changed dramatically, as well as our expenses for insurance, transportation, and technology.

We need to make our presence known to our state Representatives and Senators, and explain our current situation.

We are asking for your help in these ways:

• Write Rep. Parker at tan.parker@house.texas.gov and copy patricia.robinson@house.texas.gov  Tell him that we need a raise and you'd like to talk to him about it.    He is currently working on HB1217, dealing with electronic notarizations and notary training.

• Contact your local state representative and plead our cause!  You may find information for your local representative at this link:  http://www.fyi.legis.state.tx.us/mnuAddress.aspx  

• We need to contact as many Texas notaries as possible!  We would like to send each notary an email explaining what we need to do to get a fee increase.  If you can provide us with a Texas Notary name and email address, please send it to this email address:  owens.r@icloud.com

• We need volunteers to contact local news media, both electronic and print media, to explain our responsibilities and plead our cause, asking them to help us get the word out via their news outlets.
